Learning your identity as a leader requires self-esteem and confidence. It requires abilities and skills that are acquired and learned. You need good role models and teachers yourself, and that is why a leader is responsible for helping others grow. Find out what you need to know concerning leading people correctly.
Do what’s necessary to promote group unity. This means making sure that everyone knows what tasks they need to perform and what everyone else is doing. This prevents duplicate effort. Always remember that there is an inverse relationship between what’s on your mind and your personal productivity right now. If something is on your mind, write it down. If you need to, work on it now. If it can wait or can’t be helped right this minute, set the paper to the side and get to work on something you can do right now.
Create goals and reward those who reach your goals. Setting up goals is much more effective than creating quotas. It is also a great way to boost morale in your team. You do not have to spend a lot of money on rewards if you are creative. However, if you really want to reward your team for good work, ask for a budget for rewards.

Your role as a leader should not include treating team members, or employees, like children. You are dealing with adults who have adult lives outside of work, just like yourself. Treating them as peers whom you trust and value, is a great motivational tool that every leader should use.
